Why did you choose Drew?

I chose Drew because of the community and the arts. When I was visiting for the first time while I was applying, I felt welcomed into the community right away. It felt diverse and freeing, having come from a school that had its diversity but not a community built on understanding and respect to a school with a great collective of people who are willing to support me. Another piece that stood out to me was the arts teachers and programs. The amount of different courses that you can take is amazing! I'm currently taking printmaking and loving it!

 

What is one of your favorite classes - any project examples?

One of many favorite classes would be my language class. I am taking mandarin which pushes me to attempt new sound and characters. One project I really love is the Lunar new year project. We spent about a month creating booths to teach our community about the aspects of Chinese culture surrounding the new year. (plus Ms. Jackson is the BEST!)

 

If you had to choose a favorite activity/experience at Drew, what would it be and why?

I really enjoy the 415, a student run restaurant and performance based event. Why? Because I get to work with my peers, decorate, plan, and learn. There are also chances to show off your talents in the performances. Overall it is a great event to show your leadership and planning skills.

 

Also, I started badminton in freshman year. I had not played before and had never touched a racket in my life. The community really pulled me in and helped me love the sport.
