Why did you choose Drew?
I appreciate the opportunities the community has to offer, whether through programs like DEALL or through leadership opportunities. Coming from a larger public school, having the ability to participate in multiple groups, was important to me while looking at high schools. Drew has allowed me to pursue my own interests and hobbies which I would not have been able to otherwise.
If you had to choose a favorite activity/experience at Drew, what would it be and why?
One of my favorite experiences through Drew was the Chinese Medicine DEALL program when we went to Chinatown and were able to explore the area, food, and culture with fellow classmates before regrouping and taking a Tai Qi class in the mission.
How do you think you have changed since starting at Drew and what do you think Drew had to do with that change?
By joining sports management and creating the instagram platform for that leadership group, we were able to create involvement and draw attention towards our athletics department. Not only do students want to see their fellow classmates doing interviews and social media trends, athletes themselves are enthusiastic to participate and have their hard work appreciated on the page. Highlighting athletes and acknowledging big events has made a positive impact on our athletes and student attendance.
How was the transition from middle school to high school and how did Drew help?
The transition from middle school to high school, coming from a large public school outside the city to Drew, my first private school, was rough and overwhelming. However, by joining affinity groups such as Mixed Student Union and APIDA, I was able to find people who had similar experiences to me quickly and made long-lasting friends throughout all grade levels.
What are you passionate about outside of Drew?
I am passionate about my volunteering opportunity, working with children in a summer camp I used to attend to. I think it's important for teens to work with kids because it helps with communication skills and leadership skills I am able to apply to my everyday life.
